ITMS

At ITMS we saw a lot of cool things. One of my favorites was a metal cutting exhibit. They used very hot liquids to cut metal shapes and things out of a big metal plate. They made a baseball right in front of us and also made a lot of bottle openers. It was very bright and cool. The problem they were trying to solve was the ability to make things out of metal quicker and cheaper. Also, another very cool exhibit was one where they used ground up corn cob to polish metal. The machine sucked and rotated around the corn cob to polish the metal very good. The problem they were trying to solve was eliminating manual labor to polish metal.

Introduction to Arduino (Fall 2018)

Today we learned how to make easy codes on Code Bender. I worked with my classmate Peter on making a code that repeated a phrase on the laptop. I used the serial print to tell the software what to say and the loop made it say it again and with the small delay. This was my first code and I am excited to do more.

Later in the packet, we made lights blink alternatively in Chapter 2. With the help of my partner Peter we connected the Arduino to the breadboard with wires and resistors. We put LEDs in and coded to make them blink with one blinking 2x more as they alternate.

Today in Chapter 3 of our Arduino project we implemented a button to control alternating lights with one blinking and the other not. We connected a total of 6 wires, 3 resistors, 2 LEDs, and one button. One LED is always lit but when you press and hold the button the other button lights up and blinks as well. This was a longer code than most and had more complex commands, if and else loops.
